Blue Mountain Recycling Blue Mountain Recycling is very proud to support “Keep Up the Sweep Up.” Blue Mountain pioneered single steam and Zero Sort™ processing in Philadelphia providing a processing platform to support the City’s recycling expansion and creating 77 new green manufacturing jobs since 2000. BMR is a wholly owned subsidiary of FCR Recycling and Casella Waste Systems, Inc. FCR processes over 1.3 million tons of recycle material each year through a network of 23 processing facilities which includes 10 single stream processing systems. Keep America Beautiful Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup™ is the nation’s largest annual community improvement program. More than 32,000 clean-up, green-up and fix-up events take place in over 30,000 communities between March 1, and May 31, involving over 3 million volunteers and participants. Activities include litter and illegal dumpsite cleanups, waterway cleanups, environmental education programs, community gardens, vacant lot restoration, public art, graffiti prevention and removal, local recycling programs, planting trees, creating/restoring parks and playgrounds, and beautifying public lands. City Year - Give a Year. Change the World. City Year unites young people, ages 17-24, of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world. Global Citizen Global Citizen is non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting civic engagement, community volunteering, civic responsibility, and sustained active citizenship among diverse groups, particularly young people. Global Citizen promotes democracy building, voter education and participation, locally and globally. The Philadelphia Department of Recreation The Department of Recreation provides programs designed to develop the physical, cultural, artistic and life skills of participants of all ages in all neighborhoods. It provides a full range of structured activities and programs for city residents of all ages at more than one hundred and fifty Recreation Centers and Playgrounds. Services at these neighborhood-based facilities include Tot Recreation Programs designed to meet the socialization needs of Pre-School aged children, formal After-School Programs focused to meet the needs of children between the ages of 6 to 12 years, cultural enhancement programs that include visual arts, dance, and drama opportunities for interested individuals, and sports activities that promote the physical and emotional well-being in participants of varying ages. |



We did it! More than 11,000 volunteers at 231 official project sites used approximately 5,000 brooms, 3,000 rakes and 1,800 shovels to fill 48,000 trash bags with unsightly, unwanted litter. That’s how to clean up a City!
