Welcome to the
2010 Philly Spring Cleanup
Thank you for making our 2009 Philly Spring Cleanup a success (see 2008-2009 Results below)! The City of Philadelphia is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Philly Spring Cleanup to be held Saturday, April 10, 2010 (rain date, Saturday, April 17, 2010).
This year’s Cleanup, entitled “Keep Up the Sweep Up,” will be the start of our sustained effort to eliminate and prevent litter and illegal dumping—permanently. With ongoing strategies of education, enforcement, intense cleaning and beautification, we are committed to making our City and our neighborhoods clean.

Ongoing Efforts
We are proud of this record of achievement; however, we all know that litter is an ongoing battle. Efforts are now underway to develop best practices for litter prevention. The City has already invested in Big Belly Solar Powered trash cans, which have significantly reduced litter in high pedestrian areas around Center City. Throughout 2010, we are expanding this initiative to include commercial corridors outside Center City. Although this is a step in the right direction, we know that a broader litter prevention strategy is needed.
We will use the momentum from the Philly Spring Cleanup to engage citizens in an ongoing effort to eliminate and prevent litter from invading our city streets. We will partner with community organizations to motivate the public to make the City of Philadelphia the cleanest and greenest city in America.
Help your community even more
by filling out the 2010 Census
In this tough economy, we have all been forced to do more with fewer resources. This year’s Cleanup comes at a time when we can all do something free and easy to help change that. The 2010 Census population count will be used to determine how much federal money comes to your community – about $2500 per person -- for neighborhood revitalization, schools, parks, affordable housing, roads and programs like job training, children’s health care and head start. It’s pretty simple, more people means more money. While we’re cleaning up our neighborhoods on April 10th, we will spread the word to our neighbors – we’re counting on you to be counted! For more information about the Census, visit www.PhillyCounts.org or www.Census.gov

Help to give Philadelphia a good spring cleaning! On April 10th, join Mayor Nutter and thousands of volunteers in neighborhoods across Philadelphia for the 3rd Annual Philly Spring Cleanup.
